The sixth Ethiopia national innovation platform (IP) meeting took place in Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) 15–16 May 2018. The meeting discussed the sustainability of the platform and of the program.
The sixth national innovation platform (IP) meeting of the African Chicken Genetic Gains (ACGG) program in Tanzania took place in Dar-es-Salaam on 3–4 May 2018.
The fourth meeting of the national innovation platform of ACGG in Nigeria was held in February 2017 in Port Harcourt. The meeting highlighted the need for a more permanent forum for smallholders working on poultry development and the potential use of a mobile phone application for feed formulation.
Fifty participants attended the second innovation platform meeting of ACGG in Ethiopia on 22-23 March 2016 to review progress and develop further activities, and crucially to define national innovation challenges and develop mechanisms for enhanced participation.
The second innovation platform meeting will review the progress in the key areas that were identified during the first IP, such as policy review; health; feed; poultry marketing and consumption; gender (women and youth); genotype identification; and training and training material development.
On 22 July 2015 the ACGG project was officially launched in Nigeria in the presence of government officials and key stakeholders in the Nigerian chicken value chain. The event promoted the nutritional value of eggs and recommended ‘one egg per day per person’.
